From Farmland to Flourishing Estate: The Journey of Langebaan Country Estate
By Craig Scott | CEO & Developer, Langebaan Country Estate

When I look back at the journey of Langebaan Country Estate, I am reminded that great communities are not built overnight – they are cultivated through vision, resilience and the dedication of countless people who believe in something bigger than themselves.
What began in the late 1980s with the acquisition of Olifantskop Farm has grown into one of the West Coast’s most sought after lifestyle estates. Over the decades, we have faced challenges, celebrated milestones, and steadily transformed open land into a thriving hub of homes, facilities and community spirit.
Building Blocks of Progress
- 1990s: The first golf course was designed and opened, laying the foundation for a lifestyle estate.
- 2000s: Phased developments brought villages like Perkijt and Aurora, while the estate restructured under new leadership.
- 2007: A defining moment – the opening of our Gary Player Black Knight Design golf course, which remains a signature feature today.
- 2010s: Facilities expanded with gyms, swimming pools, entertainment centres and the launch of the Junior Golf Academy.
- 2020s: New villages such as Chardon and Le Juille, upgraded gates, storage facilities, and a nursery have added depth to our offering.
Each milestone represents more than bricks and mortar – it reflects the collective effort of architects, builders, staff and residents who have shaped the estate into what it is today.

Where We Stand Today
Today, Langebaan Country Estate is home to over 1,000 developed properties, a championship golf course and a wide range of amenities – from tennis courts and cycling trails to a vibrant clubhouse and wellness facilities. It is a place where families grow, friendships are formed and residents enjoy the balance of security, lifestyle and natural beauty.
But what truly defines us is not just the infrastructure – it is the community spirit. The estate thrives because of the people who live here, work here and contribute to its ongoing success.
Looking Ahead
As we enter the next chapter, our focus remains on sustainable growth. With new nodes like Le Grand underway and continued investment in infrastructure and security, we are building not just for today but for generations to come.
My commitment – as developer and CEO – is to ensure that Langebaan Country Estate continues to be a place where people can learn, grow, and belong. Whether through sporting opportunities for our youth, community events, or the creation of new spaces, we will keep nurturing the values that have carried us this far.
From farmland to flourishing estate, our journey is proof that vision backed by perseverance can create something extraordinary. Langebaan Country Estate is more than a development – it is a living, breathing community. And together, we will continue to write its story.
